A holiday home within a Belle Époque palace!
Menton is a secret that the French and Italians have enjoyed in numbers. It is veritably a small city, full of beautiful features, made famous by Victorian-era British and Russian royals, as their winter holiday home in the warm south of France. The Czars' winter palace still stands next to Palais Lutetia. If you love excellent cuisine - a dream-fusion of Italian and French - you will find plenty in this safe (fact - one of the safest towns in France!) and beautiful seaside town of antiquity. It has beaches and a port; many hundreds of boutiques and stores; fantastic architecture, including the wartime 'southern' maginot line! Enjoy the bustle of Nice, Monaco & San Remo then return to your tranquil home here. Only 30 minutes drive from Nice airport, the Easyjet French hub.
You will stay in a 100-year-old Belle Époque palace that was once part of the seaside residence of The British Ambassador to France.
Your views are un-spoiled and wide open, southwards to the Riviera coastline and beaches, only 12 minutes walk away. With a mountain at its back, this landmark building still proudly boasts its once noble status. Your apartment is on the second floor. There is a lift.
Below are photos of the living areas. There are two sitting areas, in two rooms, & even two dining areas, in different rooms, into which two full French windows cast very bright light. A bedroom for 4 (one double sleigh bed & two single bunk-beds), a Kitchen with dish-washer; a shower-room, with washing machine; all fan-off from a central lobby/hallway.
There is free parking locally but it's a case of finding it! Cash deposit required in exchange for keys - refundable shortly after vacation. TERMS - payment by 6 weeks before holiday starts and advance partial payment (deposit to secure holiday) needed upon booking.
Above: views from and next to Palais Lutetia, including the monastery walk, a charming ascent to your summer palace home. The sea is a 12 minute walk away.
Palais Lutetia crowns the splendid, central avenue, majestically bathing in all-day sun, overlooking the sea, near to the Jean Cocteau museum and the port. Cost per week in British Pounds Sterling :- High Season (June,July,August) 650 Special Festivals (Easter, Christmas, New Year, & Lemon Festival, late Feb.) 550 Other times of year 500
In the large town you will find plenty of chic shopping but also much to do other than walk commercial streets. The old port and the old town offer beautiful distractions and upon the surrounding mountains perch ancient villages.
